Report: Samsung has received 9 million pre-orders for Galaxy S III

With the newly-unveiled Samsung Galaxy handset - the Galaxy S III - scheduled to hit European markets on May 29 and a 4G LTE-optimized model to be launched in the US this summer, the Korea Economic Daily has revealed in a recent report that as many as 9 million pre-orders have been received by Samsung for its new flagship handset from over 100 carriers across the world.

Brooklyn Prosecutor to Target Intimidation in Ultra-Orthodox Abuse Cases

In a notable move which will help target witness intimidation in child sexual abuse cases in Brooklyn's ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, Charles J. Hynes - the Brooklyn district attorney of Brooklyn - is setting up a task force comprising a panel prosecutors and investigators.

Expressing his disapproval of the treatment which is meted out to the sexual abuse victims by certain elements in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, Hynes said that the panel will be asked to "come up with some alternatives to break down this wall of intimidation."

HTC working to get One X and EVO 4G LTE into customers’ hands soon

Taiwan-based handset maker HTC has assured that it is working closely with Customs to get the HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphones into their hands as soon as possible.

The manufacturer's assurance came as the U. S. Customs & Border Protection blocked the shipments of the two Android-based smartphones following an exclusion order by the International Trade Commission (ITC).

The exclusion order by the ITC was issued in December last year, as a part of ruling in an Apple-HTC patent infringement lawsuit.

NTT Docomo announces its summer lineup of 16 smartphones, a kids handset, and a tablet

Japan’s biggest carrier NTT Docomo has recently announced that it is soon coming up with its summer release of a new lineup of devices, which will include as many as 16 smartphones, one kids’ handset, and a tablet computer.

The new assortment of 16 handsets announced by NTT Docomo will comprise ten dual-core smartphones, with their screen-size varying from between 3.7 inches and 5-inches; and the size of camera sensors ranging from 8 megapixels to 13 megapixels.

AMD introduces its new Trinity processor

Sony, Panasonic trying to hit next-generation TV partnership

Japan's consumer electronics giants Sony Corp and Panasonic Corp are reportedly pursuing talks to join forces to produce next-generation organic light emitting diode (OLED) TVs in a bid to compete with South Korean rivals more effectively.

Citing unnamed sources familiar with the talks, the Nikkei daily reported on Tuesday that Sony and Panasonic want to accelerate the development of large-screen OLED TVs, which offer a sharper picture than conventional flat TVs while consuming less power.

Apple changes new iPad’s '4G' moniker to 'Cellular'

After having run into legal troubles with the Australian users of the new iPad, over the device's "4G" moniker, Apple has now reportedly started naming the tablet's "Wi-Fi + 4G" model as "Wi-Fi + Cellular."

While the "4G" moniker of the tablet technically implied that the device was 4G-compatible, it was however reported that the high-speed 4G LTE service on the device actually worked only in the US and Canada, and that too through just five carriers.
