Denmark launches $28mn development programme for Pakistan

Denmark has aided Pakistan by launching 28 million dollars development programme. This programme has been launched under the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) with the aim to have democratic development, regional stability, human rights and gender equality.

A Danish Embassy has made a statement that the programme will have the validity for two years. The programme is the first phase of long-term development cooperation between Pakistan and Denmark.

There was an official launch of the DANIDA Pakistan programme at an impressive ceremony which was hosted by the Danish Ambassador Uffe Wolffhechel.

Many representatives from the civil society, media, and diplomatic core and UN agencies were present in the event. The chief guest in the event was Muhammad Asif, Joint Secretary UN & Paris Club, Economic Affairs Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Danish Ambassador Wolffhechel has said in his speech that the main aim of developing this programme was to have contribution towards the development and stability in Pakistan and support peace building in the region.

He added that in past few years Pakistan has faced many challenges. It has faced challenges on security, political and economic fronts.
