World Scout Jamboree Pulls Youth in Sweden

The World Scout Jamboree has captured the interest of the young enthusiast from the very beginning. The situation is not different even this time in 2011, as boys of the age of 15 and 16 would be seen enjoying the company of their friends in a 12-day long event along with approximately 39,000 other participants.

Being hosted in Sweden’s fourth largest city, Kristianstad, the campus has been divided into four towns - Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter - and sub-camps, which are named after Swedish towns, as per reports.

The national Scout organizations from over 180 countries meet once in four years to stimulate healthy relation among themselves. For the current year, the selected theme is based on environmental sustainability.

“They learn about leadership, managing themselves and caring for each other. It will be fun for them and they’re excited to go as it’s their first jamboree”, said an elated Oman Scout leader Suhaib al Shehhi, who is also attending the event, on the day of their departure.

The most amazing part is that the boys would have to fend themselves and there would be nobody to look after them at the campus site. As per the schedule, workshops, exhibitions, ceremonies and leisure activities, under programmes named such as Dream, Quest, Earth and People, would be conducted.
