Sweden’s housing market showed resilience in August, with overall prices unchanged from July, according to new figures from Mäklarsstatistik. The data suggests that despite high interest rates and a cautious economic backdrop, demand for homes remains solid.

Apartment prices were flat nationwide, while house prices edged up 1 percent. Compared with a year ago, both property types are now up around 5 percent, confirming a steady recovery after earlier declines.

Regional trends point to growing strength outside the capital. While Stockholm apartments held steady, Gothenburg and Malmö registered modest increases, and family houses in southern Sweden posted the sharpest gains.

Turnover was also robust, with nearly 20,500 transactions completed during August. Mäklarsstatistik said the figures underline a balanced market where supply and demand are increasingly in sync — and where buyers are still willing to move despite higher borrowing costs.
