Swedish fintech giant Klarna made its long-awaited debut on the New York Stock Exchange, marking one of Europe’s most high-profile tech listings in recent years.

The company, founded in Stockholm in 2005 and best known for its buy-now-pay-later services, listed its shares under the ticker KLAR. Investor appetite proved strong: after pricing its IPO at 40 dollars per share, Klarna’s stock jumped roughly 15 percent on the first day of trading, pushing its market value above 15 billion dollars.

The successful debut is being read as a vote of confidence in Klarna’s turnaround efforts after years of losses and regulatory challenges, and as a milestone for Europe’s fintech sector on Wall Street.
