Skanska announced it will construct a new data center in Finland with a contract value of approximately EUR 95 million (around SEK 1.1 billion). The project has been commissioned by a confidential client and will be carried out as a turnkey contract.
According to Skanska, the facility will meet the latest requirements for security, resilience and energy efficiency. Construction is set to begin in the third quarter of 2025, with completion expected in early 2027. The company noted that data centers are a strategic growth area, reflecting increasing demand for digital infrastructure across Europe.
Finland has in recent years become an attractive hub for data center investments. According to Yle, global tech companies have been drawn by the country’s cool climate, stable electricity grid and abundant supply of renewable energy. Major operators such as Microsoft, Google and Equinix have already established facilities in Finland, underlining its role as a northern European data center hotspot.
